Overview and Legal Requirements of UAMS Web Accessibility

As a public institution, UAMS must make all web content and mobile apps accessible under Section 504, Section 508, and Title II of the ADA.

The U.S. Department of Justice has extended this deadline. Public universities like UAMS now have until April 26, 2027 to bring websites, documents, and digital content into compliance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards.

After that date, every page, image, document, video, and form on a UAMS website must meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA or the university risks investigations, complaints, and lawsuits.
