WordPress Blocks
WordPress 5 (deployed in February 2019) includes a complete redevelopment of the editor, named “Gutenberg”, which now features a new “block” system for working with media assets and complex markup.
Due to the scale of our WordPress installations, we cannot allow individuals to install WordPress blocks themselves. Custom blocks are created by Web Services.
We accept block requests from the entire community to ensure that WordPress is meeting the broad needs of our users. If you would like to suggest a block, we will need a few details from you:
- What are you specifically hoping to accomplish with this block?
- Have you familiarized yourself with our existing blocks?
- Blocks can have multiple features — please indicate which features are of primary importance to you and which features are “nice to have” or unimportant.
- Would this block provide new functionality that isn’t currently available or do you see it as an improvement on functionality that already exists?
- Does the block you are requesting do something similar to an existing block? If so, how are they different?
- What is your backup plan or workaround if this block cannot be made available?
Your answers to these questions will allow us to either provide you with details on how to accomplish your goals using existing functionality or give us what we need to begin a block review.
