Service Lines
A service line is a clinical delivery structure within a health system. These are generally large primary and specialty clinical services such as behavioral health, transplant, cardiovascular services, etc. They have leadership and clinical teams to manage all of the activity of that unit.
Faculty Physicians are employed by the College of Medicine. A large group of faculty spends their time at UAMS facilities which are aligned clinically in service lines. Another large faculty group spends their time at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. The group at ACH is not part of the UAMS service line structure.
There is a group that spends time partially at UAMS facilities and partially at ACH. The time that the faculty spends at UAMS facilities would be aligned in UAMS services lines.
Professional fees that are billed by physicians working at ACH, are collected and received by the COM. The professional revenue generated at the ACH facility does not get associated to a UAMS Health Service Line.
